As the home page states, my name is Rebecca Young, and I am a student in English, Linguistics, and Education programs at the University of Mary Washington. I’m in my fourth year of these studies, and absolutely loving it! I come from a family of avid readers and educators, so it’s no surprise that these are the passions I’ve chosen to follow. With the guidance of my family and the wonderful community at Mary Wash, I’m so excited to take my experiences here and apply them in the real world, with my own future classroom! It’s my life’s calling to serve students and prepare them with what they need to succeed and to make our world a better place for everyone; the work I’m doing now is all a part of my progress toward that ultimate goal.

Beyond my future career goals, I also have a passion for the natural world we live in. I grew up in rural Virginia, right in the Shenandoah Mountains, and those roots have given me a great appreciation for the environment we are so lucky to have. This passion drives me to be environmentally conscious myself, and to share my knowledge and appreciation of the Earth with anyone who will listen!

Here I am pictured in one of the most breathtaking parts of the world I’ve ever seen: the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England! Check out my study abroad page to learn and see more of the wonders I experienced in England!

As part of my personal journey through life, I’m learning to find pride and inspiration from my past work and experiences, even if they’re things I’d rather learn from than repeat! That focus is what this website represents for me; this is my place to record my progress in personal and academic ways, and to continue growing from them with purpose. I am so grateful for your interest and support in my journey, and would love to share more with you! Contact me if you have any questions or thoughts, or if you’d just like to get in touch. Thank you!
